If you’re just itching to clean out your garage, backyard, spare bedroom or office of unwanted electronic equipment, we’ll take them off your hands -
at absolutely no charge to you! Any California business, organization, school, governmental agency and/or resident is welcome to bring their unwanted e-waste. We accept computers, monitors, computer components, power supplies, TV’s, VCR’s, DVD players, telephone equipment, fax machines, toner cartridges, copy machines, cellular phones, microwaves, audio/visual and stereo equipment, and video game systems. And, there is no limit to the amount of e-waste people can bring. (Sorry, we cannot accept furniture, household appliances, or smoke detectors.)

What is E-Waste?
Electronic waste, known as "e-waste", includes computers, technology equipment, etc., that are deemed obsolete or unwanted and need to be disposed of. Statistics are staggering regarding the amount of e-waste that currently exists, with an even greater amount anticipated in future years. Much of the current e-waste is not being recycled or improperly disposed of.

Why Recycle Our E-Waste?
Recycling and properly processing e-waste is essential for several reasons. Electronic equipment is made up of a multitude of components which contain toxic substances, e.g. carcinogens such as lead, mercury, and arsenic, that constitute hazardous material and must be processed accordingly to stay out of the ground, water supplies, and the air. In addition, e-waste contains valuable materials that can be recovered by recyclers, including gold, platinum, silver, copper etc., creating an economic advantage to recycling e-waste material.

EWM/ACQ is a state-approved participant in a state-funded program to collect and recycle e-waste. The state-funded program, run by CalRecycle, created as a result of the passage of SB 20 and SB 50. This program, funded by way of a surcharge on new computer components, was established for the purpose of collecting and recycling certain types of old electronic waste that have been used in California. Recyclers and collectors taking part in this program must adhere to strict processing and recycling requirements. For more information, visit http://www.erecycle.org
